With the SQ Fire range, Sport Quantum offers a dedicated Ammunition Testing feature designed to help shooters, gunsmiths and technicians easily compare different ammunition lots and objectively analyse their performance.
The principle is simple: shoot several groups using different ammunition lots, compare the results and identify which ammunition performs best with a specific firearm.
A simple workflow designed for real-world testing
Before starting, the user freely decides how many shots they want to fire for each group: 10, 20, 30 rounds or any other quantity.
Before each new series, the user enters the ammunition lot number directly on the tablet, exactly as shown on the ammunition box.
The group is then fired, and the user can move to the next series whenever they wish. There is no time limit and no predefined number of series, giving the user complete control over the entire testing process.
Objective data to compare ammunition performance
For each group, the SQ Fire system automatically provides several key indicators:
- group diameter;
- group height;
- group width;
- associated decimal score.
The tablet does not automatically determine which ammunition is “the best”. Instead, it provides all the objective information needed for the user to make their own assessment according to their specific requirements.
Two groups of a similar size may, for example, produce different scores depending on their shape and position on the target.
A centring function especially useful for gunsmiths
During professional ammunition testing, particularly in a gunsmith environment, the firearm is generally secured in a shooting rest or vice. It is roughly aimed at the target without necessarily placing the group in the centre.
This is why SQ Fire includes a “Centre Group” function.
This function virtually repositions the group at the centre of the target to provide a meaningful decimal score for comparison purposes, without altering the actual shape of the group itself.
A complete PDF report at the end of the test
At the end of the session, the user can generate a complete PDF report.
This document can include:
- firearm information;
- owner information;
- all test series;
- the ammunition lot number associated with each series;
- detailed measurements for every group.
The entire test can therefore be fully documented, archived, shared or compared with future testing sessions.
Discover the feature in our video
In this short video, we demonstrate how the Ammunition Testing feature available on our SQ Fire range works in practice.
A simple and precise solution designed for anyone who wants to compare different ammunition lots using objective and actionable data.
